About the Firm

STEVEN J. DUFFY received both a Bachelor's Degree in Economics with high distinction and a Law Degree from the University of Arizona, where he was a second year writer on the Arizona Law Review. He was chosen for membership in Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honoraries. He was first admitted to practice in 1981, and emphasizes representation of commercial clients in administrative agency actions and commercial transactions. He has consistently enjoyed the highest rating available, AV, from  the legal rating service Martindale-Hubbell, and for the last several years has been named a "Pre-Eminent" attorney by that organization. For 27 years, he was part of

the firm that eventually became known as Isaacson & Duffy, P.C., engaging in a significant government relations practice, including lobbying before the Arizona Legislature, in addition to providing legal services to  a range of clients from Fortune 500 companies to trade associations to small businesses. He also wrote a quarterly column for the newsletter of the Arizona Licensed Beverage Association, the trade association of Arizona liquor retailers.

In 2009, Steve left the lobbying part of the practice behind to form Duffy Law Office, PLC, concentrating entirely on the business and administrative law practice that he has enjoyed for many years.  Because of his representation of ALBA, he has significant experience in the development of the Arizona liquor laws and regulations, and in representing liquor licensees
in both their business transactions and in their licensing and discipline matters at the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control. He has also provided substantial representation of both consumers and utilities before the Arizona Corporation Commission, and has represented people and businesses before such Arizona agencies and boards as Pharmacy. Optometry, Financial Institutions, Insurance, the Registrar of Contractors, and the Secretary. He has also represented clients at the US Trademark Office.
